What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
As a face painter, in order to be able to provide a quote, I need to know the date and time of the event, how many people are expected and the location. I also like to know if there is a theme or a special design(s) the customer would like so that I can incorporate these onto my menu board for a personalised experience! It is also useful for me to know if the event will be indoors or outdoors so that I know what equipment I will need to bring with me (gazebo, tables and chairs etc).
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise the customer to check that any face painters they have asked for quotes have full public liability insurance. I would also ask for examples of the face painters work - please look closely to check these are actually the face painter's work and not a Google image! I also think its important to see designs that have painted on other people not just themselves, just to get the full picture of what the artist can offer. I would also advise that you check the face painter's reviews as well, to check other people's experiences of hiring them, be sure to read the reviews and not just look at the star rating.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I've always loved being creative and always wanted to use that creativity in my work. Feeling very bored one January in my old job I asked on a "mummy" related social media group what people did for a living and the very first person that replied was a face painter, I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it before! My 4 year old daughter just loves face painting, and I love painting her and others! Nothing beats that "mirror moment" when you see the look of joy and happiness on people's faces at what you have created, I just love my job so much!!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have been lucky to have had several bookings through Add to Event! My favourite was probably my most recent booking at a regatta. It was such a beautiful location right on the waterfront, the people were so friendly and I was painting non-stop for 3 hours! I just love being busy and creating happy faces! Also because the club had booked me it was free to the public which meant I had lots of children come back for several designs and they were really enjoying being creative with their ideas, which of course only makes my job more fun!
