What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For me to provide a comprehensive quote to a client; ideally, I would need the date and a brief outline of the event they are hosting, the address of the venue and timings. I would also help to know how many guests are attending and if its an indoor or outdoor event
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you always look at examples of their work. Also, look at any reviews. Build rapport with them, taking photographs of someone is very personal so make sure you get a good vibe from your photographer!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I come from a creative background and my father was a very keen amateur photographer and he bought me my first camera when I was about 6. When I was a teenager I used to go to lots of gigs and I started taking my camera with me and took loads of photos of bands and singers and it sort of went from there. I didn't like having my picture being taken and so I got do a project where I would take photos of my friends who also didn't like their photos being taken and that became something I was known for in my circle, then I started getting asked to do friends weddings and parties and I flourished! I was semi-pro for about 15 years and about 5 years ago I decided to start making it my full-time job and I haven't looked back!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
If I had to pick one I think it was a wedding I did last year for a young couple who had a small budget but wanted lots of photos to capture their special day - she said that the photos I took were like scenes from a movie that her and her husband were starring in and that exactly what I have played in my head when I have the camera in my hand. Add to Event found me that couple and I would highly recommend them to others.
