What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For the most accurate quote, I would need to know approximately how long you will need me for. I work on a sliding scale, to provide you with as much coverage as possible within your own personal budget - and my prices range from £300 (for ceremony only, or up to 2 hours) to £1250 (unlimited all-day coverage). I will also need to know the location, so I can factor in travel costs. And if you need images provided within a specific timeframe, this will also allow me to adjust my quote accordingly to meet your needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would say the working style of your photographer is very important. For example, I work candidly to capture natural expressions - I don't want to direct you and your guests (unless it's actually necessary of course) or to be a distraction during the day. Other photographers might aim for more traditional, posed shots and spend much more time directing and advising their clients. Which one of these approaches works best will be up to you. Why is this important? Because ultimately, this will be what decides how you spend your time, and how comfortable and relaxed you are during the day itself. Remember: the photography needs to be all about the event - the event doesn't need to be all about the photography!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started Surrey Event Photography after realising how many clients appreciate a quiet, sensitive and unobtrusive approach from their photographer. It's this style of photography that comes most naturally to me - the ability to observe, record a narrative and act on intuition to capture those elusive images. So it has been a natural progression to grow my business on what comes most instinctively to me, and therefore produces the very best photographs for the clients who hire me.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I am very excited to join Add To Event. Since 2008, I have photographed an eclectic range of events, from small, private gatherings to large arena concerts. As of now, a new part of Add To Event, I'm looking forward to receiving my first booking through the platform. Will it be you?
